We are currently reworking our market offering, to better meet the needs of parents and learners alike...
The only traditional part of our future school model - except it's anything but that. The American syllabus (Diploma) forms the backbone of the online, modularized and customized curriculum through SchoolHouse Teachers. We are also currently looking for a service provider for students wanting to incorporate certain SA specific subjects. Scholarship constitutes approx. 50% of the Eduship syllabus.
The real life application and understanding of how things actually work, is an invaluable (but sorely neglected) aspect of education. Project (experience) based assignments bring the academics to life, while incorporating google tools / apps facilitates a far superior learning experience to traditional method & means. Garageship constitutes approx. 10% of the Eduship syllabus.
Mentorship has proven to be one of the most influential inputs and powerful predictors, of school leaving success - as defined by personal independence and maturity levels. Both peer and adult mentorship models are leveraged using activity based mentorship in partnership with The Character Company. Together with documentaries, games, sports, hobbies and competitions, this constitutes approx. 30% of the Eduship syllabus.
At Eduship, education extends beyond a vision simply for employment and responsible citizenry... It seeks to instill a biblical worldview within which to apply God given gifts and talents. Practically, Discipleship, Leadership & Entrepreneurship skills, provide the framework for living as Kingdom Ambassadors. This constitutes approx. 10% of the Eduship syllabus.
Take the best of homeschooling, being an affordable, personalized and self-paced, world class curriculum, in a well monitored and safe environment...
Add to that a digital classroom, accessing the best (most diverse, relevant and interactive) educational content, apps, tools & techniques...
Facilitated in a group, blended learning context, with a self-directed, experiential & discovery based learning methodology...
Underpinned by a belief and value system based on a biblical world view, including the holistic growth and development of every Eduship learner.
Eduship's 4 educational philosophies might sound wonderful in theory, but bringing this to life will certainly turn a few heads - especially those in Government education departments - South Africa being no exception! Sadly, in SA, very little provision has been made for either parents (tax paying citizens) or the private sector (driving the economy), to take ownership of education in the same way that underpins almost every other sector and industry in society (being innovation, excellence & market forces). Instead, educational options for SA's kids dictate that they are either public schooled, private schooled, or homeschooled. Of which private schooling receives no Government funding, but remains subject to Government imposed regulations, thus resulting in an offering far beyond the financial reach of 80% of SA's kids. And homeschooling is only tolerated because SA's constitution protects it (with the help of those like the Pestalozzi Trust).
Eduship challenges the current educational status quo at almost every turn...
We do not subscribe to or align with the South African (CAPS) curriculum. Instead we have found the American K12 syllabus and Diploma to be superior in both breadth and depth.
We do not believe that educational content is necessarily best delivered in person. In fact, we believe that the traditional teaching role often limits educational delivery, content, pace and ownership.
Innovation, investment and risk are always at the heart of industry and societal advancement - as undertaken by entrepreneurs in the private sector. Democratic Government's role is to cause this to flourish, not flounder.
Knowing what you believe and stand for has never been more important, as encapsulated in the life of Nelson Mandela, and enshrined in the South African constitution. The Eduship family embraces this!
Each Eduship future school makes provision for a maximum of 40 learners (10 learners minimum) - and is run as a combined (boys and girls) junior (grade 4 - 7) school, high school (grade 8 - 12) or both (grade 4 - 12), depending on local demand. High schoolers cannot join Eduship beyond grade 8. An entrance assessment will be conducted, and the right of admission is reserved. Eduship has as its scholarship curriculum and matric (equivalent) certificate, the American K12 syllabus and Diploma. This qualification is formalized with Eduship subject transcripts and the ACT assessment. Not forgetting that 50% of the syllabus involves a recorded (transcripted) extracurricular education by way of Garageship, Mentorship and Ambassadorship. This spells Holistic with a capital H!
South Africa is a nation desperately in need of solving its own problems. One of these problems is local economic empowerment. That is, local people, taking responsibility for local problems. One of the best ways to do so, is to start and run sustainable businesses. Eduship exists to do exactly this within an education context, by franchising the Eduship future schools. In this way, qualifying Dadmasters (edupreneurs) are empowered to run future schools wherever the demand exists within local communities. This in turn empowers parents to give their children an education that actually breaks the poverty cycle, and restores hope and dignity to so many desperately in need thereof. For more about this franchise opportunity and the associated application criteria, visit the Dadmasters page.
Each Chiefmate is a parent of a learner at Eduship, and able to make their personal residence (which must be walking distance from the Dadmaster's residence) available as a scholarship classroom (Monday - Thursday; 8 - 2pm), as well as act as a learner facilitator. All 4 Eduship Chiefmates are remunerated (based on a fixed % of school revenue) for their services, as well as receiving a 25% discount on their child's tuition fees. Accordingly, the Dadmaster and his 4 Chiefmates constitute the staff component of each Eduship, and are fully responsible for the smooth and efficient sailing of each future school.
Eduship offers parents the ability to have their kids educated in a model that embraces, and is founded upon, the best of home and traditional school offerings. This includes;
All the Eduship Benefits (USP's) - as highlighted above, including;
Having access to a private school as part of the local community
Knowing and trusting the school staff (and children) - being from the community
Having options to participate in the running of the school - as a dadmaster or chiefmate
Being free from all government educational bureaucracy
Isn't it overdue that someone put education back in the hands of the parents who pay for it and the children who use it? That's Eduship, and that's a future school.
Eduship franchises (future schools) are for sale to any qualifying dadmaster. Applications are free and can be made on the applications page. Upon the successful 'in principal' application for founding and running an Eduship future school, a more detailed due diligence is undertaken. Thereafter, and upon the furnishing of an 'in principal' admissions list of (minimum) 10 learners, all associated contracts and agreements are signed, and the future school is formally launched. As you can see, gone are the days of big schools, with big overheads, and big investors. Future schools are here!
Each Eduship future school (in principle) is run within the same locality / community where its learners live. Gone are the days of long commutes to oversized government or overpriced private schools. Accordingly, each Eduship school is run from 4 suitable (converted) private residences for classroom & workshop purposes. Other requirements include being in close proximity to a park or field (for sport / exercise) purposes, and in an area that promotes the safe running of all future school activities. Having said so however, Eduship's digital curriculum takes education beyond the need for any physical location at all, as the future school classroom is really a digital device!
Eduship has spent 2022 piloting the concept with 2 students, and is excited to report that much has been learnt, adapted, adopted and relegated. Accordingly, we are excited to once again be going public with a 'classroom' (10 kids) offering for grades 4 - 8. If this proves to be successful, then the next step will be the launching of a school with 30 - 40 learners. As the old adage says, 'nothing ventured, nothing gained', so come mix your faith, and child's education with ours, in 2023! Essentially, Eduship places the timing of education back in the hands of those who use it (the learner) and those who pay for it (the parents)!
